Teeth. We don’t think very much of them. They’ve kinda always just been there. They allow us to eat solid food and pronounce certain words the right way. We shudder if they get too yellow and we show them off every time we smile. Brush them, floss them, shine them up nice and pretty… they’re just little things that we don’t think very much of. Until they start to appear in your babies mouth. Then those little suckers have all our attention.
My little one is 8 months old. He has two bottom teeth and two that have made an appearance up top. He drools like nobody’s business. I mean it gets everywhere. He just can’t help it. Constantly smacking his lips and feeling these little hard things with his tongue seems to occupy his day. They’re a new thing, a milestone really and my husband and I are proud.

Teeth on a baby is exciting. But with most things there is also a downside. They hurt. Brand new gums suddenly erupting without warning with hard bumpy things is not very comfortable for baby. My suggestions: a frozen teether, regular teether, plastic rings, and soft blanket material. Of all the things my kid loves to put in his mouth, cloth of any kind and plastic rings are his favorites. They are easy to hold in little hands and are comfortable to chew on at the same time.
Trust me on this. Your baby is going to want something to chew on and really rub their itching gums on. Either it’s gonna be a blanket or your hand… don’t sacrifice your hand!
